Signing Up

First, you need to download the App from the App Store (iOS) or Google Play (Android).

To register you must provide your mobile number. We will send you a PIN code by SMS. Once you enter the PIN you will be asked to fill in some details, such as: your name, location and email address.

After providing that info, you can add a profile picture to your Account.

Throughout the onboarding process, you will be asked for permission to grant access to some of your information, such as, your contacts, location and microphone. To understand why we need to access this information, please go to the sections of this FAQ: “Why is Birdy Bytes asking for permission to send me notifications and access to my camera, contacts, photos and microphone?” and “Why do I need to provide my location?”.

After the onboarding process you will see a very short tutorial about the main sections of the App: Play for Fun, Play for Rewards, Challenges, Special Cards, Chat, Wallet and Profile.

If your PIN code is not working, please request a new one. Please make sure you have mobile network coverage otherwise you will not be able to receive the SMS with the PIN code.

If you get a new phone but your number remains the same, you can register again: you're account should remain the same, with all your rewards, game points and profile information.

If you change to a new mobile number, you need to create a new Account. Please be aware that any information from your previous account cannot be transferred to your new account.

Currently, Birdy Bytes is only available for use on smartphones, running iOS and Android. Please be aware that Birdy Bytes will only run on iOS 8 and above, and Android 4.4 and above. You are not able to run the App in rooted or jailbroken devices, in addition, devices with an unlocked bootloader or that fail to pass a basic integrity test are not supported due Google to google security mechanisms for Android.

Birdy Bytes is completely free to download and use.

We may use your location to send you specific challenges, which are only available in your city or country.

You are not obliged to give us permission to access your location and you may still use the App.

However, by giving us permission to access where you are, we will improve your experience with the App.

If you are using Android, simply go to your Birdy Bytes settings and turn off Push Notifications directly in the App.

These rewards can be distributed in three different forms:

  • They may be sent to your house by post mail.
  • They may be sent to your email as an electronic reward (example: ticket).

PLEASE BE AWARE that the distribution of some of these rewards may be restricted by the law and regulations of your country or state. Please read the Terms and Conditions for more information about it.

These loyalty cards will be available inside your wallet. You can collect “stamps” when you have good performance inside the App or when you collect some stamps in some partners. In the first case, you can collect stamps in the following situations: (a) every time you go up one level; (b) when you answer correctly all 5 questions in Play for Fun, 5 times in a row; (c) when you answer correctly all 7 questions in Play for Rewards, 3 times in a row; (d) when you finish any of the other games with a very good performance in time.

You can use the chat to speak with other users from the App. You may not send an SMS through the App. This was implemented like this in order to protect the privacy of users.

When you enter Birdy Bytes and a new version is available you will receive a pop-up notification inside the App. We will also post updates about new versions of the App on all of our social media pages, including Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.

When you update your App, all your game points, rewards, contacts and all other information will remain the same.

Yes. You may block any contact you wish to. Simply go to the profile of the user you wish to block, and at the end you will find a "BLOCK CONTACT" button. You will not be able to receive or send chat messages or game invitations with users you have blocked.

You may, however, have to play against this player in a daily game in Play for Rewards. This will not affect the blocked status of this user.

To unblock a user, simply go to your profile, then Settings, and there you will find “Blocked Contacts”. On that list, you may manage your blocked contacts.

If you wish to report a user for misbehaviour, please contact us explaining the reason why you would like to report this user and we will respond and take the appropriate action as soon as possible.

Our policies provide details of behaviours that will not be tolerated in the App. If you are unsure whether or not a user is misbehaving or violating our Terms and Conditions and other policies, please read our Terms and Conditions, Privacy Statement, Rule Book and specific League Rules, all available to you at www.birdybytes.com and inside the App.

Sometimes another user may be behaving in a way you do not like, but may not technically be going against any of our policies. If this is the case, you should block the user by going to her/his profile and clicking "BLOCK CONTACT". You can manage your blocked contacts in the Birdy Bytes settings.

Please see the section of this FAQ: “Can I block people I don’t want to talk to?” for more information.

If you delete the App from your phone and reinstall it, but login in with your existing mobile number, all of your information will remain in place. We will only delete your information if you inform us that you wish to delete your account permanently.

Game Play

Yes, the questions for both players will be exactly the same, including the choice of answers provided with each question.

In this case, the player who answers the questions in the quickest time will be the winner.

If you hit a bomb, the game will end up immediately. We will keep the number of points you made during the game and how long you did play before the bomb exploded.

In the case both players hit a bomb, the one who had more points by the time the bomb was hit wins. In case of a draw, the player who took less time to achieve those points will win.

In the following games: Memory, Mahjong, 9-Game, Birdies and Maze-Miner, the winner of each game is the player who reached more points, within the objective of each game. In case of a draw, the user who reached those points in the shortest amount of time wins. In extreme cases, where both players have the same amount of points and reached those points in the exact time, the draw will remain.

It is very unlikely that a draw will happen. But if it does, the points will be split: each player will get 5 points.

If you lose Internet connection in the middle of the game, your game may or may not be lost.

If you regain Internet connection before the end of the game, your game will be uploaded to the server and will be considered. If you regain Internet connection within 2 minutes after the end of the game, your game will also be considered, as we automatically retry to upload your game to the server after 2 minutes. You will gain or lose any points you earned for the game.

Currently, the Trivia game is available in two languages: English and Portuguese. Other languages will be supported in the near future.

Please see the Rule Book section of www.birdybytes.com, where you will find the objectives and the explanation of the rules of the game. See also our policies, such as our Terms and Conditions and Privacy Statement.

You can win Special Cards and Mess-Up Cards on the Daily Wheel of Prizes, in the Daily Challenges, when you bring friends to the App and when you complete the Birdy Loyalty Card.

Yes, you can buy special cards and mess-up cards in the store of the App

Attack Cards

Attack Cards can be used inside a League from the first day of competition, until the last 5 hours of the deadline. This means you should not send an Attack Card in the final 5 hours of the League, since attacks take 5 hours to be effective. Some Power Attack cards can take less time to be effective and can be acquired in the store inside the App.

Every Attack Card has a different value, from 1 point to 100 points and above. Each Attack Card can be used only once.

In Play for Rewards a player can attack only their closed neighbours in the league leaderboard. Currently, the player can only attack the other players that are in the range of 10 positions above and 10 positions below his/her score in the leaderboard. If the other player does not react to your attack, you will steal the number of the points of the card from the other player. To attack beyond this range the player needs to use Power Attack Cards with extended range.

If the other player defends the attack with a Card of the same value or above, you will not steal any points.

If the other player defends an attack with a Card of smaller value, you will steal the difference in points.

Each player can only receive a maximum of 15 attacks per day. When this number is reached the other players will be notified of that.

Poison Attack Cards can be use to steal 1 point per hour during a period of 24 or 48 hours.

Defense Cards

Defense Cards can only be used only used and when you receive an incoming attack. You have 5 hours to defend an incoming attack.

Defense Cards can be used at any time in the Play for Fun mode, and at any time during the time-period of a League: from the first day until the final minute of the League.

If you react you should use a Defense Card with the same value as the Attack Card. If you use a Defense Cards with a lower value, you will lose the difference in points.

If, for some reason, you use a Defense Card with a higher value than the attack card, you will not lose any points, but you will not gain any extra points either.

If a player ran out of Defense Cards, there is still a mechanism to somehow protect this player: each player can receive a maximum of 15 attacks per day.

There are still two other special defense cards: Immunity Defense cards: will defend any attack from any player during a specific period of time (e.g. 24 hours). Antidote Defense cards: are used to defend Poison attacks.

Mess-Up Cards

Mess-Up Cards can be used to obstruct your opponent’s game. They can be used in Play for Fun and Play for Rewards.

Mess-Up Cards will not directly steal any points from any other player, they are just a way of bringing fun and entertainment to the game.

Mess-Up Cards must be sent before a game begins. In Play for Fun, you can send a Mess-Up Card to your opponent by clicking “NEW GAME” then clicking “MESS-UP” button before pressing “PLAY NOW”.

In Play for Rewards, you may only send a Mess-Up Card to your opponent if you are the first one to play the Daily Game. This must be sent before clicking the play button on your daily game, which will be shown to you in the League.

There are currently 11 Mess-up cards available, 10 of them can be used only in the Trivia game. The Emoji Mess-Up card can be used in all 6 games: Trivia, Memory, Mahjong, 9-Game, Birdies and Maze-Miner. With this Mess-up card you can select your favourite emoji that will show up in the screen of your opponent when he/she will play the game.

For more information on how to use these Cards, please go to the Special and Mess-Up Cards section in the Rule Book, available at www.birdybytes.com.
